News and Events at VVKMAC and VVKDThis is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our studio. If you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here first.
Valley View Karate Martial Arts Center to Close its Doors September 1st For the past two decades Valley View Karate has seen many changes; from ownership and styles to the direction its many different instructors have chosen to go. The one thing that has always remained constant was our love of the art and the joy we found teaching our students. We have had a terrific group of people over the past twenty years and over the course of the next few weeks, I am going to try to tell little stories about some of them. We at VVKMAC would like to express our deepest thanks to everyone that made our lives richer and fuller for having been a friend/student/teacher/ or a supportive mom or dad. Rather then dwell on the negative of our closing, I am going to try and remember all the good times that we had over the years. I invite you all to send me letters of your fondest memories and I will post them here on the site for all to share in. Even though we are closing our doors, I ask that all of you continue to train and learn this wonderful art. It has been my passion for more than three decades and I know that I will continue in one form or another. Thank you all for being a part of my life and bringing me so much joy and love...I will miss you all. Matthew J Reardon
Some of my fondest memories; Leah, Emily, and the rest of my 'flock' who used to swing from my long hair Mr. Jeff Lee "connecting" on every black belt in sparring and even breaking my supporter Mrs. Hass's spin classes (why did I eat Whoppers before those?) Mr. Heineck's Plyometrics classes Stick class with Mr. Kelly The look on Mr. Stinson's face the first time he broke a board with a kick Ben kicking me in the shins every class to see if I got a new tattoo Paul Fredrick doing forms (yea, he was that good) Mr. Lee doing a Dragon tail sweep during sparring on Mr Hutchinson's black belt test Marina landing a ridge hand to Mr. Lopez's head during her black belt test Breaking my arm on my 2nd degree test (yes, I remember this fondly) Setting myself on fire during the Riverfest demo Torture class (the infamous Mr. Push-ups) David Leifer hanging in midair during his falls ...more to come...
Karate was where I felt at home and it cannot be replaced with just
another studio. The karate here was different. It was challenging, fun,
painful, enjoyable, and contained the feeling of family. I love VVKMAC, and all
of the instructors and other students. The instructors were our fathers and the
other students were are brothers
and sisters. It will always remain this way in my heart, but I will miss
the classes and the people. Thanks to Joe and Matt for the great classes and
just for being there. I love you guys! - Leah Rentmeester I still feel a little bad about breaking your supporter, but many push ups, hours standing with arms straight out and multiple grappling episodes including the "sandpaper face rub" help mitigate my guilt. I'm seriously going to miss those good times. (And they truly were, good times). When you were at the studio, you were family, and now that family is moving on. Valley view fitness was, without a doubt, the coolest bunch of dudes I have ever had the pleasure of hanging with. And, I forgot, the only ones with medical proof that they were the funniest bunch of instructors ever-Jeff Lee You have the best dojo in the area. The girls are going to be so
disappointed. I remember the first time the girls and I met you. We were all
scared and the girls wanted to go home. Who would of thought you were such a
teddy bear. I feel
privileged to have had my girls trained by instructors like you and Joe. I feel
bad for the kids who wont have that opportunity. I am truly sadden by this
news. Fondly, Brenda
